Glass Harp
Douglas Lee is a Los Angeles-based performer, composer, and sound artist renowned for his innovative work with musical glasses—wine glasses tuned with water and played by touch. His performances blend genres like heavy metal, classical, and pop, and he leads The Douglas Lee Quintet, which reimagines jazz standards using instruments such as the musical saw, saxophone, and piano.
Lee's debut album, Themes for Falling Down Stairs, showcases his eclectic style, featuring instruments like the koto, shamisen, and Baschet sound-sculpture to create immersive electro-acoustic soundscapes. Collaborating with the Metabolic Studio Sonic Division, he explores experimental instrument building and sound art, continually pushing the boundaries of auditory experience.
